The Academy of Performing Arts (APA) is proud to present A-Haunting We Will Go, a murder-mystery comedy, Thursday May 30, 2013 at 8:00PM. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00 per person. This full-length production is the culmination of the APA Acting and Technical Theater students' work.

Congratulations to Jake Forrestal on his Papermill Playhouse Rising Star Award Nomination for Outstanding Achievement by a Leading Actor for his performance in our production of Sweet Charity. Jake will perform with the other leading actor nominees at the awards ceremony on June 4th at Papermill. Also Nathaniel Moon, Crew Chief, and Brendan Szenfinski, Production Stage Manager, have been nominated for Rising Star Student Achievement Awards, for their work on Sweet Charity.

Newsweek Magazine has ranked CHS # 206, climbing 73 spots on the national list! Newsweek generates their ranking system upon analysis of several components including graduation rate, college acceptance rate, advanced placement participation and performance, and SAT and ACT performance.

Congratulations to Marissa Salway and Ben Gelber for winning Best Actress in a Comedy and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy, respectively, from the 2013 Montclair High School Drama Awards for their performances in our CHS fall production of Pride and Prejudice.

Congratulations to Jake Forrestal, who will be awarded the Governor's Award in Arts Education for Vocal Music at the State Theater in Trenton on Thursday afternoon, May 2. And congratulations to the 15 students who were accepted into the NJ All-State Choruses: Noah Belmont, Tyler Beresford, Lucy Esposito, Garrett Forrestal, Benjamin Gelber, Alexandra Heyburn, Devin Kenney, Elyse Mackenzie, Gabrielle Meadows, Daniel Montealegre, Julia Nicholas, Sarah Parlapiano, Dylan Randazzo, Todd Sweeney, and Geddy Warner.

The CHS Academy Dancers' dance piece "Reasonable Doubt" was selected by a panel of adjudicators to perform at the Regional High School Dance Festival in Norfolk, VA. Also on April 7th, four senior dance students' original choreography was perform at the historical 92nd Street Y in Manhattan as part of the Y's "Sundays at Three" program.

Join us in congratulating Garrett Forrestal, Devin Kenney, Justin Kilpatrick, Geddy Warner, & Casey Zebrowski who were accepted into the American Choral Directors Association's National Honor Choir. This is a huge honor, they traveled to Dallas to sing and perform with students from all over the country.

Congratulations to 10th grader Aleksandra Czyrsznic for having her pieced metal jewerly piece Thorn Gauntlet accepted into the Morris Museum Fresh Perspectives show. This very prestigious show only accepts outstanding artwork created by New Jersey high school students. Awards will be presented on April 11 at 6:30 PM. The exhibit will be on view from April 11 through June 9, 2013.

Cranford High School Students impressed us once again with Forty Four DECA members advancing in the top of their business events at the Regional DECA Competition, making them not only eligible to compete in the New Jersey DECA Leadership Conference in Cherry Hill, from February 28-March 2 but also marking another milestone of the club with half of the membership advancing.
Of the 44 students, 8 received first place, 5 received 2nd place, and 5 received 3rd place. In addition, these students placed in the top ten of their business specialties. -
At this weekend’s Model UN Conference in Hershey, PA, Cranford High School students earned the following awards: -Will Budries was elected Premier First Year Delegate in Security Council A. Sabrina Huwang was awarded Outstanding Country Research Paper in the Council on Economic Advancement A. -Manny Garcia was elected Premier Delegate in the Written Press Corps. Sarah Jacobus was elected Premier Delegate in the Video Press Corps and will serve as the 2013-2014 Video Press Editor. -Matt Cohen was elected to serve as a 2013-2014 General Assembly Vice Chair. -Gary Hoffman, Tom Stoke, Siri Myhre & Adam Solomon were awarded Outstanding Country for their representation of France. -David DeBole & Todd Sweeney were awarded Outstanding Country for their representation of Israel. -As representatives to this year’s Conference on National Affairs, Maria Schwartz was named as a delegate and Brian Leu, Sarah Jacobus & Tom Feeney were elected as alternate delegates.

We would like to thank the faculty that came out yesterday who bowled to raise money for the Susan G Komen Cancer fund. With your help we were able to raise over $700 and counting. This weekend the Cranford High School "Cougar" Marching Band competed in the United States Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) National Championships and placed 8th. Congratulations to Band Director Daniel Chernosky and the rest of the CHS Marching Band.

America has made its decision! After a well fought campaign and a close race, President Barrack Obama has been reelected for another four years. He will be inaugurated on Sunday, January 20, 2013.

This November Cranford High School will be putting on the romantic comedy Pride & Prejudice on November 30 & 31 at 8 p.m. The production is adapted by Jon Jory from Jane Austen's 1813 novel of the same name. You can read the entire press release here.

The Cranford High School "Cougar" Marching Band competed in the United States Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) Gold Show at North Brunswick High School. The band took 2nd place in division 3A (up to 75 members). The band also took 1st place in the Music Ensemble and Music Individual categories.
