    On Saturday, May 10th, Japanese Club students Mary Bruno, Trisha Draper, Kelly Malcolm, Laura Pascal, Katherine Purachev, Laina Purachev, and Olivia Vollbrecht hosted a Super Smash Brothers game tournament as a fundraiser for Relay for Life in the Community Center. Students raised over $150 in donations through this event. Funds were raised through admission fees and bake sale profits. Anthony Kalafatis won the grand prize of a $25 gift certificate to Game Stop.

  • Congratulations to James Sweeney and Melanie Santos, for coming in 5th place in the state in Environmental Science at this year's science league competition.

  • Fisco sensei is proud to congratulate the following students for becoming the first ever CHS students to be inducted into the Japanese National Honor Society--Pre-College Chapter (JNHS). They will be awarded their certificates and seniors will receive their cords at an awards ceremony. The students are: Olivia Davis, Trisha Draper, Michael Folger, Bernadette Garcia, Vivien Garcia, Andrew Guarisco, Paul Hislip, Faye Kenajian, Naomi Lee, Kotryna Matulyte, Alexandra Milan, Thomas O'Donnell, Laura Pascal, Thomas Philip, Katherine Purachev, Laina Purachev, Maria Schwartz, Catherine Trapani,and Rachael White.

  • Chief Joseph Ole Tipanko, a Maasai chief from Kenya, presented a program to the World History students and other students associated with globalization and global learning.

  • On March 22nd six students, Joe Flynn, Nick Prezioso, Mark Koellmann, Stefan Gorski, Austin Brogan, and Will Brown, participted in a programming competetiton called HackBCA which took place in Hackensack NJ. We interviewed two students, Mark Koellmann and Stefan Gorski, on their experiences.

  • Congratulations to Academy Dance Sophomore, Valerie Sobol, on the acceptance of her dance piece "Time to Grow" at the 92nd Street Y Dance Up Festival in New York City. Val, along with Academy students Kayleigh Besnecker, Sam Brennan, Lauren Costa and Erin Rogan will perform in NYC on Saturday April 11th and Sunday April 12th.

  • Congratulations to Gavin Murray who won his 100th career victory this year and is on his way to being the NJ State runner up at 138lbs!

  • The Olympic winter games were held in Sochi this year. The US won a total of 9 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals!

  • The Seattle Seahawks won the Superbowl!

  • At the Model UN Conference in Hershey, PA, the Cranford High School Delegation distinguished themselves by earning the following awards: Susanna Jaramillo was elected to serve as the 2014-2015 European Union Chair at the 2015 Model U.N. Conference. She was also selected as a delegate for the YMCA Conference on National Affairs (CONA).

    Maria Schwartz was awarded Premier Diplomat in her General Assembly subcommittee: Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural committee representing the country of Vietnam.

    Olivia Dineen was recognized for Outstanding Country Research Paper on Denmark in the World Health Organization.

    Tom O'Donnell was recognized for Outstanding Country Research Paper on Egypt in the Arab League.

    Kellie Joyce was selected as an alternate for CONA.

    The Cranford High School delegation was recognized as Outstanding Delegation during the 2014 Model U.N. Conference.

    Congratulations to all of Cranford High School's delegates that won these outstanding achievements!

  • The first annual Turk-A-Teacher was a huge success, raising $472 for Cranford Family Care in two weeks! For Turk-A-Teacher, students could vote on who they wanted the most (out of the teachers that volunteered) to wear a turkey costume by purchasing feathers during the school lunches. Originally, Mr. Carroll won by a landslide, but due to the fact that he was not going to be in school the Wednesday before break, they chose the two highest feathered teachers to wear the turkey costume. As a result, Mr. Bell beat out Hurley 78 feathers to 68 feathers and had to wear the turkey costume.

  • CHS Quilting Club would like to thank everyone for all of their support in Blankets of Love! We made 114 blankets which were delivered yesterday to the Carol Simon Breast Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital and The Valerie Foundation for children battling cancer at St. Barnabas.

  • Congratulations to the girls soccer team for becoming Conference Champions!

  • Congratulations to Michael Nigro on performing as the eldest VonTrapp son on NBC's Live Broadcast of The Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood!

  • Congratulations to Noah Belmont, Tyler Beresford, Lucy Esposito, Garrett Forrestal, Benjamin Gelber, Alexandra Heyburn, Devin Kenney, Elyse Mackenzie, Daniel Montealegre, Dylan Randazzo, Todd Sweeney, and Geddy Warner who auditioned, were selected, and will participate in the NJ All-State Mixed Choir in Atlantic City on Friday evening with Mr. Rafaniello as the piano accompanist for the choir!

  • The Boston Red Sox won the world series!

  • The winners of this years "Scarecrow Stroll" have been announced! Congratulations to Ms. McGuire for winning second place with the Medusa Scarecrow! The Latin Club worked diligently over the course of 3 weeks to gather and assemble parts to make the Medusa. A great deal of experimentation and humor contributed to our 2nd place prize scarecrow the "Medusa".

  • Congratulations to all of the seniors who have been named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program!
