  • Ms. Savino would like to give an announcement about the Snapple Bowl game that would be held over this summer as well as congratulate our All Star Footbal Team and All Star Cheerleading Team. You can read the announcment here.

  • Congratulations to Coach Patrick Gorman for being named the Union County, Regional, and District Coach of the Year for the 2015 Wrestling Season!

  • Congratulations to both of our Boys Lacrosse coaches on the best boys Lacrosse season in Cranford history! Head Coach Al Reinoso was voted as the Group II Coach of the Year. Assistant Coach Nick Filippone was also voted the Group II Assistant Coach of the Year. Both coaches were then given the highest honor as being named State Coaches of the Year amongst all groups.

  • Cranford students have recently participated in two seperate hackathons. Hackathons are conventions that usually last between 12-24 hours and encourage students to begin and finish a project in the given time. There are a lot of resources for them to use, and many opportunities for learning.

  • The Senior Class of 2015 recently had its Fashion Show! Seniors paired up to perform acts and dances to impress the audience. It was memorable conclusion for an exciting four years of high school for our graduating class. It's now featured as multiple articles on NJ.com. To view the articles, click here.

  • Congratulations to Anna Fitch, Julie Byrne, and Luke Christiano. Anna Fitch was named our NJSIAA Scholar Athlete and will represent Cranford at the state banquet in May. Julie Byrne and Luke Christiano were also selected as our Union County Scholar Athletes.

  • Congratulations to seniors Sebastian Rebelo and John Will Acton for being awarded 1st and 2nd places in the duCret School of Art's 36th High School Student Art Show. The show represent 445 students from 25 New Jersey public and private high schools. Sebastian was awarded 2nd place in the scratchboard category and Will was awarded 1st place in the collage category.

  • Congratulations to Alex Esposito and Sabrina Huwang for having their art accepted into the 2015 Fresh Perspectives Exhibition. The exhibition will be open to the public from April 9-June 7.

  • Four Cranford High School students performed in the NJ All-State Women's Chorus on Saturday, February 21 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Pictured are the Cranford High School students with All-State Women's Chorus conductor Particia Joyce. This school year, a total of seventeen Cranford High School students were selected for and participated in the NJ All-State Choruses.

  • Congratulations to Alexandra Heyburn, Elyse Mackenzie, Katherine Mackenzie, and Veronica Walton on being selected for the New Jersey All-State Women's Chorus. They will be singing with other top high school women from around the state on Friday and Saturday, culminating in a performance at NJPAC in Newark on Saturday.

  • On Janurary 8th 2015, 145 students competed during DECA 2015 in Kean University. 44 DECA members advanced to the top of their business events at the Regional DECA Competition.

  • On Janurary 30th, 21 students were invited to visit the Committee for Teaching About the UN, where they listened to a variety of esteemed speakers who were charged with discussing the role of the UN 70 years later. They also attended an organization fair during the lunch break highlighting various organizations that work out of the UN for various social issues.

  • This past weekend, the APA Acting students competed in the annual Governor's Awards Competition at the Speech and Theatre Association of New Jersey (STANJ). STANJ has been recognizing excellence in Speech and Theatre Arts for the past 50 years. Over 25 schools around the state send their students to compete. There are multiple entries per school in each of several categories. The first place winner in any given category will win the Governor's Award in Arts Education.

  • Cranford High School senior Tom O'Donnell was recently given the oppurtunity by the Japan Foundation to visit Japan.

  • Congratulations to Mr. Gorman for getting Union County Wrestling coach of the year and to Mrs. Savage for being named New Jersey Women's Volleyball Official of the Year!

  • Cranford High School students recently attended the 2015 Model United Nations national conference. CHS won the position of premier delegation due to the contribution of all of its 113 student members. Winning the title of premier delegation is the highest honor available to all the delegations present. To see a full list of awards presented to Cranford High School members, click here.

  • Students of Cranford High School's Japanese language program are delighted to be taking part of a pen pal program with students in Japan. With the help of a former student of CHS, Liz Simon, who is currently teaching in Japan, students are able to apply their language skills and make great connections overseas. The pen pal project is a great way for students to learn how to communicate in the language they're studying. Practicing with native speakers is an effective way to get a real world experience to relate the skills learned in class. Additionally, writing to pen pals is an exciting and fun way of meeting new people. The pen pal project engages students to apply their knowledge and allows them to be a part of a unique and fun experience.

  • After learning in class about the role of police in society, court room procedures and the correctional system, criminal justice students had the opportunity to visit Union County Courthouse on December 12th and December 19th. They met with Maria Estevez, who works in the victim's protection unit of the prosecutor's office and witnessed the sentencing of convicted criminals.

    After the sentencing, the judge, defense attorney and prosecuting attorney spoke to the students and answered questions. Students were also able to sit in the jury box, view the jury deliberation room and the Judge's Chambers. Rolston Nelson, an 11th grade criminal justice student, even got to sit at the Judge's Bench!

  • The Cranford High School Computer Honors Society (CHS)2 recently concluded its Winter Computer Science Competition. After a brain-wrenching quiz and a take home challenge, Jake Zhou and John Ross ended with a tie. Each of them attained 11 points over the first part of the competition, but there is only one spot on the winner's plaque. The Spring Competition will determine the overall winner.

  • The Cranford High School Performing Arts Department presented its annual Winter Concert on Thursday, December 18, at 7:30pm in the CHS Auditorium. Featured ensembles included the Cranford High School Orchestra, Women’s Chorus, Men’s Chorus, Women’s Ensemble, Noteworthy Gentlemen, Madrigal Choir, and Concert Choir. CHS choir alumni were invited to join in the traditional singing of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus in the concert’s finale.

  • On December 17th the Cranford High School Art Department hosted its fall semester Art Show. The Opening reception was held in the high school library from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. The featured artwork was from the Photography, Crafts, Graphic and Fine Arts classes with works from Aleksndra Czyrsznic, Alexis Miranda, Sabrina Shu, Allison Curley and Lauren Winter.

  • On Thursday, December 11th, Cranford High School saw the creation of a new club. The Hang Tough Crew is a club open to 10th - 12th graders that want to see discrimination and bullying eliminated and want to help other students in the school. The club meets Thursdays at 3pm in L321.

  • Students in CHS have quilted 117 Blankets of Love. The blankets were delivered to Mountainside Children's Hospital for distribution.

  • Cranford High School Student Council organized a fund-raiser called Turk-a-Teacher. Student Council members sold feathers during lunch that were used to vote for the teacher to be dressed in a turkey costume. Student Council raised $174 from this event. Congratulations to Mr. Hurley for winning the event and thank you Student Council for your effort.

  • The CHS Senior class held their annual Pasta Night on Wednesday 12 November. Over 400 plates of pasta were served by the "wait staff" as diners were serenaded by the CHS Jazz Band. A fun time was had by all. A special shout out to the Shop Rite of Clark for their donation of 100 pounds of pasta.

  • Thirteen Cranford High School students were accepted into the 2014-2015 New Jersey Music Educators Association's All-State Mixed Chorus and will perform with 300 other top students from around the state. The students will perform at historic Boardwalk Hall on November 7th, as part of the New Jersey Education Association's Teachers' Convention and at NJPAC in Newark on November 16th. Anthony Rafaniello, Choral Director at Cranford High School, will once again serve as the piano accompanist for this year's All-State Mixed Chorus and joined his thirteen students throughout the rehearsal process and in both performances. Cranford High School All-State Mixed Choir members are (from left to right) James Lynch, Devin Kenney, Noah Belmont, Julia Nicholas, Shelden Mendes, Dylan Randazzo, Todd Sweeney, Samantha Gordon, Daniel Montealegre, Tyler Beresford, Gabrielle Meadows, Garrett Forrestal, and Benjamin Gelber.

  • The Memory Project is a unique initiative in which art students create portraits for children and teens around the world who have been neglected, orphaned, or disadvantaged. Given that kids in such situations tend to have few personal keepsakes, we're aiming to provide them with special memories that capture a piece of their childhood - portable pieces of their personal history. As much as possible, we also want to help the kids see themselves as works of art. To do this, Mr Gorman's students receive photos of kids from Nicaragua and recreated their portraits using digital media. Next, those portraits are deliver to the kids as gifts. some photos can be seen above.
